Beta Pi's "Heart of Gold" is a charity event that will be held at the prestigious Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Our philanthropy is internationally known as our Red Dress Gala and consists of a three-course meal along with a silent auction, raffle, fashion show and live auction. Through our achievement at Heart of Gold we have received awards of excellence in Philanthropy from USC and Alpha Phi International, and have also been recognized for raising the largest amount of money for philanthropy of any Greek chapter at USC!
Through the hard work and determination of every member, we alone have raised over $100,000 for the American Heart Association and the Alpha Phi Foundation! Since the beginning of the event in 2001, we have raised more money every year and we are looking forward to exceeding expectations again.
Heart of Gold is a great night for the girls to spend time with their parents and friends. In attendance are friends, family, alumni, USC officials and Alpha Phi International representatives amounting to over 400 people at the venue. This event includes a fashion show by the seniors to show off fun outfits and hear about their aspirations upon graduation. Heart of Gold is always a favorite night with the dozens of baskets and extraordinary raffle items. This years most esteemed items were a USC football helmet signed by the Trojan Football Team, Lakers tickets, an airplane tour of Silver Oaks Winery.
As a sorority, we are taking steps to differentiate ourselves among all the Greek organizations as one that is truly charitable. Through Heart of Gold we make a bold statement that our women deeply cherish the spirit of service, philanthropy, and community, and enjoy working together to achieve our goals for giving.
During the spring semester, Alpha Phis "Phi Ball" combines philanthropy with basketball to create one of the rows most anticipated events of the year. Phi Ball brings together the Greek community as every fraternity is invited to compete in a 3x3 basketball tournament benefiting the Alpha Phi Foundation and the American Heart Association. Aside from shooting hoops, participants are able to enjoy a live DJ, an inflatable obstacle course, sumo wrestling, and Freebirds burritos. In addition, this year Alpha Phi partnered with LA Lives ESPN Zone to sponsor the grand prize for the winning team- a night of food and games in one of ESPN Zones VIP Skyboxes! Every year Phi Ball grows making it one of the most anticipated philanthropies of the spring semester.
